JJ Byrne Park
5th Avenue at 3rd Street / Brooklyn
Dealers from all over the east coast and from New York City will be selling bicycles, bicycle parts, t-shirts, other apparel, and really anything bike related! This year, the Fifth Avenue Streetfair will be on as well, so food options and other shopping options abound.
The new Brooklyn cycling fashion brand DARGELOS will be there with goods in tow -- including their Lightning Vest and many lovely new designs.
While in JJ Byrne Park, you can also check out the exhibition 'Strong Backs and Weak Minds: the Saga of the Coney Island Velodrome' in The Old Stone House ...
The Coney Island Velodrome opened on July 19, 1930, as the world slipped toward the Great Depression and war. The track became the last velodrome in America offering the thrills and chills of motor-paced racing, where riders raced behind motorcycles to attain speeds in excess of 50 miles per hour.Sunday, May 16th / 5:30pm -The exhibit features bikes that were raced on the track, as well as photos, programs, tickets and other ephemera, including a special ‘Stayer’ bike for motor-paced racing and New York-built track bikes from long-forgotten builders.
