56 Leonard Street, in Tribeca, will soon be the site a Herzog & de Meuron 57-story luxury residential condominium tower - incorporating an Anish Kapoor sculpture in the facade. Until then, it is one gigantic construction site. Rather then simply putting up drab looking construction barriers, the Downtown Alliance's Re:Construction public art initiative worked with artist Helen Dennis to create “Rendering Leonard” - taking over the temporary plywood walls around the site. Through layers of hand-rendered composed of ghostly traces of the surrounding urban neighborhood on a black background and incorporating a number of bicycles...
